Pilates and lumbar problems, movements you should avoid

When doing any physical risk there is a risk of having injuries and harsh tears, and Pilates is not exception to this.

If you have lumbar problems as lumbar pain, hernias, protrusions, etc., you must be especially careful when performing Pilates positions and avoid these positions:

  • Lumbar hyperextensions and trunk deep flexions.
  • Supine hip extension (face up). This makes the lumbar area curve too much.
  • Rolling back exercises on the floor.
  • Stretching legs while doing hips flexion (leg elevation with no bending).
Finally, just remember that any exercise will be good or bad depending on the way you perform it and not on the method itself.

Enjoy the Pilates workout!
